What happened this week?

  • I finally kicked my butt and posted something on my blog. I’m not ready to tell you when I actually set it up.
  • Work was tough at times. I’m deeply disappointed by Kotlin’s readability. After that, I appreciated Go even more. Or maybe it’s ugly code; I don’t know.
  • The recording of my talk at GopherconEU in Berlin was released this week. I haven’t watched it yet because listening to my own voice gives me the shivers. Watching me on YouTube is even worse. But I will watch it next week. There is so much I want to improve before I give the talk again. From Java To Go - I have a hammer and I see nails everywhere
  • I’m cat sitting at home - again. This is Mayla! mayla

What I was watching

  • How to rob a bank on Netflix; I picked that randomly for my introverting dinner with myself. I don’t want to spoil anything there, but it’s really well made, and the “main character” is a strangely fascinating person.
  • Primagen—They did away with this?: This is an interview with a game designer and founder of Pirate Software. It provides interesting insights into working for Blizzard in the 90s and 00s. I have no idea what his name is, to be honest.

What I was reading

  • I’m still reading a book about negotiation my brother Markus gave me. The title is Start with No. I’ll tell you more about that after I finish it.
  • I was reading this article that someone shared on LinkedIn. It’s a Great article about estimations, especially story points. I was involved in plenty of estimation sins in the past, and I’m deeply sorry for everyone who was affected by that. Asking anyone for their estimation of a work task in T-shirt sizes should not be a thing.
  • And this concise article about technical writing by Olaf Zimmermann.
